I guess I’m an NFT artist now.

What is NFT? Smarter people can explain it then I can. For me, it’s about creating art.

NFTs are getting a lot of attention lately. I want to share my short experience with the crypto world. But before I do, here is my story.

Twenty-five years ago, I had to put my pencil down. I went to art school and wanted to be an illustrator. Unfortunately, I came out of school when computers were becoming mainstream.

Photos were replacing illustrations. The time it took to hire an illustrator and draw something could be done faster and cheaper with photography. Computers made everything easier.

I swore I would never use a computer.

After two years of showing my portfolio to just about every agency in Chicago, I received many compliments but no work. I decided I needed to look into this computer thing. So I did and never looked back.

I have been a designer, an art director, a web designer, a marketer, and now an app developer. The one thing I was not but so badly wanted to be was “An Expediter Of Visual Wonder.” (I came up with the title, and I’m proud of it.)

More than two decades later, it was time to pick up the pencil again. Or iPad and pencil. And here I am.

Here’s my artsy way of describing my work: frustratingly satisfying. Each piece started as one thing but became something else.

Beauty turned ugly, and ugly turned beautiful. What started as colorful became dark; what was meant to be dark became colorful.

Visions of hope and despair can be discovered, but that will depend on your point of view. As you can tell, I’m more of a visual communicator than a verbal one.

Lately, I have created more art than ever before, and it doesn’t seem like I will be stopping any time soon. This whole NFT craze has motivated me to create art again.

In the short time since I have entered the NFT world, I have discovered and learned a few things.

Here is a list of the top 10 things I learned about NFT art.

  1. The NFT art community is incredibly nice. There is so much support.
  2. NFT art does have an impact on the environment.
  3. Getting started is not easy. You will need to learn new terms. (But if I can do it, so can you.)
  4. It’s your art, have fun. The money will follow. If not, then you still have your art.
  5. This part is painfully true. You need to have the right art at the right time and be seen by the right buyer.
  6. Get your art out there. There are many ways to sell you NFT art. He will need to research, but I was told to start with www.opensea.io
  7. Twitter is my go-to platform. Be supportive on social media. Retweet, other artists, like their art, write something about their art.
  8. Some NFT art is bought as an investment.
  9. Pricing your art is incredibly hard. Try to sell one piece and try to auction a work of art. It’s trial and error. Let the market tell you what your art is worth.
  10. Be yourself. There are so many copycats trying to make money off of trends.

I hope this helps, inspires you, and gets you started. I love looking at all kinds of art. Please share your art with me on Twitter. @Artrobot8
